Butterflake Rolls - Jennifer

2 yeast cakes dissolved in 1/4 cup warm water
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup warm water
add 3 beaten eggs and yeast
4 1/2 cups flour
2 tsp salt

stir all together and cover. let stand in refrigerator overnight.

divide into 2 parts. roll out like a jelly roll and spread with melted butter. roll up and cut into 12 equal parts. put into greased muffin tins. butter the tops and cover with a clothe. let rise for 3 hours or until doubled. bake at 400 for 10 minutes.

What is a yeast cake?

I think they used to call it this in the "olden days" - its my mom's recipe! Its just 1 yeast packet - or the equivalent measurement of yeast. I can't remember how much comes in a packet, but its something like 2 T, but you can google it.
